Understanding Qualification Levels

Level 3 The Level 3 course is a 120-credit course, which is equivalent to 2 A levels. The course is made up of 6 modules and 6/12 written assignments. This course provides entry onto the first year of undergraduate degree course, or a level 4 course.

Level 4 Level 4 is the equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree programme. The Level 4 course is made up of 6/10 modules and 6/10 assignments, which are equivalent to 120 university credits.

Level 5 Level 5 is the equivalent to the second year of a bachelor’s degree programme. It is also equivalent to a HND diploma. The Level 5 course has 5/9/10 modules and 5/6/7 assignments, which also provide the student with 120 university credits upon completion.

Level 6 Upon completion of a Level 6 course, you will be eligible for admission onto a postgraduate business programme, including an MBA course. The Level 6 course is made up of 10 modules and 5 written assignments.

Level 7 • The Level 7 course carries 120 credits which gives entry onto the MBA top Up (one module or one module + dissertation). This can be completed by studying either online or on campus at a recognised UK or overseas university. Our level 7 is made up of 30 modules and 8 written assignments.

Entry Requirements

We welcome a wide range of learners, including mature students and those with non-traditional education backgrounds.

University entry level 3 programme requirements For entry on the Level 3 qualification learners would generally be aged 16 or above. For learners who have recently been in education or training the entry profile is likely to include one of following:

• 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above
• other related level 2 subjects
• other equivalent international qualifications

Learners must also have an appropriate standard of English to enable them to access relevant resources and complete the course modules and assignments. Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include relevant work experience (paid and/or unpaid), participation and/or achievement of relevant qualifications.

Undergraduate level 4/5 programme requirements Entry to a level 4 programme generally requires a full secondary education and a minimum age of 18. Entry to a level 5 programme depends on a student gaining level 4 or equivalent. Level 4 is equivalent to the first year of a degree or HNC or local equivalent. Level 5 is equivalent to the second year of a university degree. If English is not your native language, you may need to provide verification of your English language capability. There may be an IELTS or TOEFL English language requirement or equivalent. Please note specific university requirements will differ between universities. Normally, universities will accept the 240 credits offered by the Online Business School programme at Level 4/5 for final year completion, but students should check with their chosen university for specific entry requirements before enroling with OBS.

Graduate level 6 programme requirements To enrol on the Level 6 programme, you must be 21+ years old and have at least 3 years of relevant experience. Learners will be expected to hold a level 4/5 qualification or an equivalent to the first 2 years of a degree. In certain circumstances, students with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be considered.

Postgraduate level 7 programme requirements To enrol on the Level 7 programme, you must be 21+ years old and have at least 3 years of management experience. Learners will be expected to hold a level 6 qualification or a first degree. In certain circumstances, managers with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be considered.

How do I apply to a course?

Do I need to attend an interview?

No interviews required. Once you’ve completed your enrolment form and meet the basic entry requirements, you’re good to go.

What qualifications or experience do I need?

Entry depends on the level of course you’re applying for.

Foundation Level (Level 3): Suitable for students aged 16+ with basic secondary school education.
Undergraduate Pathway (Levels 4/5): You’ll typically need a full high school education and be aged 18+.
Graduate Level (Level 6): Prior qualifications or work experience are expected.
Postgraduate Level (Level 7): Most students will have a degree or several years of relevant work experience.

We assess each application on its own merit, including for mature learners or those returning to study.

International & Language

Can I study from outside the UK?

Yes! Our courses are 100% online and accessible globally.

Is English proficiency required?

If English isn’t your first language, we recommend an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher. You can also take an English support course alongside your programme.

Do I need a visa?

No visa is needed for online study. If you decide to complete your degree at a university in the UK, you’ll need a student visa issued by that institution.

Do I need any special equipment?

Is there a set timetable?

Nope. You study at your own pace—when and where it suits you. You’ll have up to five years to complete your course.

What is included in the course?

Your tuition fee covers all modules, assessments, tutor support, interactive tools, and downloadable resources. There are no hidden charges.

How are courses assessed?

Each module includes a short multiple-choice quiz (30 questions). You’ll also submit written assignments to show your understanding of the content.

How long should assignments be?

This varies by course, but most assignments fall between 2,000 and 8,000 words. You won’t be penalised for going over—as long as it’s relevant.

When will I get my results?

Assignments are usually marked within 14 working days. Final verification and certification can take up to 40 days in total.

Do I pay to submit assignments?

No. Assignment submissions are included in your course fee.

Certificates & Accreditation

What will I receive when I finish the course?

You’ll earn an officially recognised diploma, mapped to the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This comes with academic credits and can be used to apply to university top-up programmes.

What is an awarding body?

An awarding body is an external organisation (e.g., Qualifi, OTHM, ATHE) approved by OFQUAL to validate qualifications. Wimbledon College only works with recognised and trusted partners.

Can I progress to university after my course?

Yes. Many students go on to complete top-up degrees (Level 6) or MBAs (Level 7) at UK or international universities. We work with several partner institutions that recognise your credits.
